I offer a range of services including prenatal education, labor support, and postpartum care. My goal is to empower families with knowledge and support throughout the entire pregnancy process. I've begun my work as a professional doula in 2025 beginning with intensive birth and postpartum training provided by DONA International. I've continued with every available training and networking meetups to provide well rounded care to all my clients including referrals if specialized care is needed. Whether breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, physiologic vs abdominal birth, I can give insight to what expectations and options are available to you.
I am a calm easy going woman who likes to read and listen to as many stories as possible. When I was pregnant, that was primarily birth stories and they continue to amaze me 10 years later with how varied and incredible each tale is. Birth is beautiful, and powerful, connective, and overwhelming, and I believe every family who comes to me wanting to bolster their confidence, settle into their power, and feel secure in their choices will have a joyful experience.
My wonderful partner and kids have been incredibly supportive of my journey in this work and make my availability possible. I take a minimal number of birth clients to ensure an ideal balance for my family and other commitments. In addition to birth work I provide postpartum support and prenatal planning sessions. For more fun, I can be found attending continuing education sessions, networking with the amazing Metro Detroit doulas and prenatal care providers community, and making soap.
My work as a doula centers around your needs as a developing family. Your desired approach will be how I support you. I will help guide you to determine which approach resonates best (because you don't know what you don't know) and am always flexible to adjust in the moment if something is not working for you. We will discuss your goals, experience, and fears to prepare parents with appropriate expectations. If your goal is to breastfeed, I provide tips for your birth plan to ensure the best start, as well as connections to lactation consultants once you get home if there are any issues. If your goal is a hands off birth, we would discuss how to make these wishes clear to your provider. If your goal is to enjoy a golden hour after birth I will help remind nurses and care providers that the assessments of baby and birthing person are preferred done with them on your chest unless an emergency requires otherwise.
Though I always feel blessed to support families at birth, my passion is in postpartum care. I know how vulnerable this time can be and generally how much support from families dwindles after a week. There are also strong biases that families impart that might not align with your emerging parenting style. As a postpartum doula, I have a robust network of postnatal caretakers such as pelvic floor pt, chiropractors, lactation consultants, mental health support and more. I provide care to your whole family, so if that includes taking over baby duties so you and a partner can rest, helping with light housework if your mobility is still recovering, or putting in a grocery order, I'm there for you!
